Bridge Grades
The most prestigious (A grade) bridges from Despiau Chevalets carry the three-tree stamp of authenticity. B grade bridges carry two-tree stamps and C grade – one-tree.
A-grade (three tree): Regular and fine grain, strong medullary rays on the whole surface
B-grade (two tree): Regular and fine grain, medullary rays
C-grade (one tree): Fairly fine and regular grain wood, with less pronounced medullary rays

46mm (commonly used for 15”-15.5″ violas)
48mm (commonly used for 15.5”-16″ violas)
50mm (commonly used for 16.5” violas)
52mm (commonly used for 16.5”+ or 5-string violas)
